New York has been and likely always will be a core center for the cultural development of the United States of America. Originally, it’s location and defensibility as a port, and trading hub made it a central place during the Industrial Revolution. Manhattan was filled with factories to be near the port in a central location. As the industrial revolution became post-industrial computer revolution, skyscrapers became big filing cabinets. With the COVID situation many firms relocated to Florida and Manhattan is mostly vacated but some hardcore locals remain. It will always be a cultural center yet the evolution is amazing to watch.
